How a re-inspection works: everything you need to know
Having your car fail its MOT inspection can feel stressful. What needs to be fixed? Where should you take the car? And how does a re-inspection actually work? At Södermalm Bilservice, we have the answers.
A re-inspection means that the faults discovered during the regular inspection are checked again. You don't need to redo the entire inspection — just the specific points that led to the failure.
As a Swedac-accredited workshop, we can perform re-inspections directly in our workshop. This means you don't need to go to a testing station to get your car approved. We repair the faults and perform the inspection in the same location.
The process is simple: you drop off your car with us, we fix the faults noted in the inspection report, and then we perform an accredited inspection. The result is reported digitally directly to the Swedish Transport Agency. No extra trip, no extra waiting.
Common reasons for failure include worn brakes, defective lighting, rust damage on load-bearing parts, and exhaust system problems. Most of these can be fixed the same day.
It's important to know that the re-inspection must be completed within two months of the inspection. Don't wait too long to book your car in. We can usually accept cars for re-inspection at short notice, but it's always best to book in advance.
